Steilacoom Boulevard/88th ST SW – Curb, Gutter, Sidewalks

Steilacoom Boulevard & 88th Street between Weller Road and Custer Road will be widened for new bike facilities, sidewalks, curbing, lighting, and replacement traffic signals. The Chambers Creek overpass will be modified for pedestrian access. The project will be completed in three phases.

Project Overview

Phase 1—Steilacoom Boulevard & 88th Street between Weller Road and Custer Road. This phase constructs curbing, gravel shoulders and a new driving surface.

Phase 2—Steilacoom Boulevard between Weller Road and Phillips Road. The project constructs curbing, sidewalk and lighting on the north side only. This phase is funded by a Safe Routes to School grant.

Phase 3—Steilacoom Boulevard & 88th Street between Weller Road and Custer Road. This project will construct the remaining sidewalks and replace the signals. This phase requires extensive utility pole relocation work. Expected to bid in Spring 2022 and finish by the end of the year.

Estimated Cost: $ 4.93 million

Project Status: Phase 1 was completed in June 2020. Phase 2 started in January 2022. Phase 3 is expected to start summer of 2022 pending ongoing utility relocation work.
