The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department announced today that a Lakewood family lost their little girl to complications from COVID-19. She was under 10 years old, and she is the first child under 18 to die of COVID-19 in Pierce County.
“Lakewood has lost 83 residents to COVID-19, and to lose a young child is an additional tragedy. All of us at the City extend our deepest condolences to the family. Our hearts are broken for you today.”

TPCHD notes that the girl had multiple underlying health conditions. The City of Lakewood implores residents to respect the expert advice of public health agencies, and to help protect this community and its most vulnerable members during the ongoing pandemic.
