Lakewood Snow & Ice response

Feb. 3, 2025

In preparation for the winter weather, the City if Lakewood’s road crews began 12-hour shifts the evening of Feb. 1 to treat the roads.

Crews remain on these 12-hour shifts through Tuesday morning, or until the weather warms up.

There are two dump trucks of treatment and three, 1-ton trucks with treatment, working each shift.

As a reminder, drivers should be aware of the potential for ice if temperatures drop below freezing. Below are some winter driving tips to help keep everyone safe:

  • Leave early, take your time, and leave plenty of space between vehicles.
  • Use extra caution on hills, bridges, curves, and shaded areas.
  • Give road crews and other responders room to work.
  • Please do not drive around road closure barricades or near downed utility lines.
