The City of Lakewood is updating its Comprehensive Plan. As required by state law, part of this process includes a periodic review that must be finished by December 2024.
To complete the review and make updates by the deadline, the City of Lakewood is reviewing the plan section by section. This review includes discussion at the stakeholder level with community groups, and review with the Lakewood Planning Commission. The Lakewood City Council is also reviewing the plan in sections at study session meetings.
The Comprehensive Plan serves as a roadmap for how the City of Lakewood should, and could, grow over time. It is a long-range planning document that outlines zoning and how growth can occur. While it is highly technical, it can have a big impact on every resident, property owner and business owner in Lakewood.
That is why the City of Lakewood wants the public to engage in the update process. So that resident, property owner and business owner voices are heard and included in the periodic review process.
An open house is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. at Lakewood City Hall. The meeting is expected to last 45 minutes. It will include a review of the update process and general requirements the city must follow as it makes changes to its plan.
People can attend in person at Lakewood City Hall in Council Chambers, 6000 Main Street SW. Or, attend virtually through Zoom. Don’t have a way to attend by computer or smart phone? Dial 253-215-8782 and enter meeting ID 873 5008 5037. Use passcode 751617 to join the meeting.
