About Wards Lake Park
Wards Lake Park is currently closed and under construction.
The park encircles Wards Lake, one of Lakewood’s five lakes. Wards Lake is a manmade lake fed by local surface water. The lake is a precious habitat for many plant and animal species. Just west of the lake is a grove of historic Garry Oak trees. Wards Lake Park is great for dog walking, birding, and other outdoor activities.
Upcoming Improvements:
Plans include the addition of a dog park, an ADA-accessible walking trail loop around the lake, a new bridge, and a “pump track”.
A pump track is a hilly course for biking and skateboarding. Riders coast up and down small hills and “pump” on the downslope to build momentum to crest the next hill.
Shelter Rentals
The Wards Lake Park picnic shelter is available for rent. There are no restrooms. Visit the Shelter Rentals page for more information on rentals in Lakewood.
