Every year, the city of Lakewood remembers the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to advocate for justice and equality.

Welcome Walk – Jan. 11, 2025

Are you new to Lakewood? Or have you lived here for a while but are looking to meet new people? The City of Lakewood Welcome Walk is a great chance to meet your neighbors and make new friends.

Group walks will take place around Waughop Lake. There will be food trucks, music and chances to meet your neighbors.

Parks Appreciation Day

Every year, Lakewood staff and community volunteers team up to clean our parks. This includes picking up trash, pulling weeds, and light landscaping to preserve the parks. Join us at the next Parks Appreciation Day to help make a difference!

Youth Fishing Event – May 17, 2025

Bring the kids for a day of fun and learning at American Lake Park. Young participants will learn how to bait a hook, cast, and reel in a lunker. Children ages 5-14 can participate. Children get to keep their fishing poles. Poles, bait, and bags for your fish are provided!

Youth Summit

Join the Lakewood Youth Council for its annual Youth Summit. Join us for fun, engage with other students and leave motivated to make positive contributions in your community.

Saturday Street Festival

The Saturday Street Festival is a great way to kick off the summer. We’ll have a live DJ, dancing, food trucks, roaming entertainment, jugglers, unicyclists and more!

Lakewood Farmers Market – Tuesdays from June 4 – Sept. 17, 2024

Enjoy warm weather, fresh produce, food truck treats, and wonderful memories at the Lakewood Farmers Market. Now on Tuesdays, the market will feature a rich selection of vendors, lots of lawn games, over a dozen food trucks and live music! The market accepts SNAP/EBT benefits.

Summer Nights at the Pavilion Concerts

Set up lawn chairs or throw down a blanket and enjoy live music at Fort Steilacoom Park! Our outdoor concerts follow the Lakewood Farmers Markets on Tuesdays this summer. Bring a snack from the market, claim your spot, enjoy a great performance, and “cut a rug” on the dance floor.

National Night Out – Aug. 5, 2025

Lakewood’s National Night Out is your chance to meet the police officers and firefighters who work year-round to keep Lakewood safe. Meet new neighbors, enjoy community potlucks and barbecues, play games and participate in family-friendly activities.

Fiesta de la Familia

Enjoy food, live entertainment, an art show, and hands on crafts. See roaming entertainers. Kids will enjoy balloon making, face painting and more.

9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

Every year, the City of Lakewood commemorates the 9/11 attacks with a remembrance ceremony. The ceremony is held at City Hall and is in collaboration with West Pierce Fire and Rescue and Lakewood Police Department.

Truck and Tractor Day – Oct. 12, 2024

Enjoy pumpkin decorating, crafts, games, and a giant slingshot for pumpkin chucking! Children can climb on dozens of giant trucks and tractors and sit in the driver’s seat & honk the horn. Children also receive free hayrides, hard hats, and pumpkins.

Holiday Parade of Lights – Dec. 7, 2024

Celebrate the holiday season with a Christmas Parade of Lights at the Lakewood Towne Center. Visitors get to view holiday floats constructed by local businesses, clubs, and organizations. This event is completely free.

Jingle Bell Run – Dec. 14, 2024

In partnership with the Lakes Cross Country Booster Club, the City of Lakewood is hosting a Jingle Bell Fun Run at Fort Steilacoom Park. This 5k walk/run and 1-mile kids fun run is great for families. Wear your best holiday-themed costume, bring your dog (on a leash), grab the stroller and head to Fort Steilacoom Park for holiday cheer.

The 1-mile run begins at 9:30 a.m. The 5k walk/run begins at 10 a.m. This is a chip timed run.

  • Pre-registration cost: $10 for 12 and under; $30 everyone else.
  • Race day cost: $15 for 12 and under; $35 everyone else.
