Project Description: The cities of Lakewood and University Place along with Pierce County are working together on the Chambers Creek Trail Project.
The land is owned by the Pierce County with sections of the trail(s) and trail heads located in University Place and Lakewood. When complete, this project will result in a 2.5 mile trail through the creek.
Estimated Cost: $3,200,000 – Lakewood’s contribution is $325,000.
Project Status: Design work was complete in 2017. Contracting for survey, geotechnical and bridge and trail alignment is underway in order to prepare site plans, construction drawings and the necessary permitting needed to build this trail in this special protected area. Bidding is anticipated for early 2021 with scheduled completion by late 2022.
