Project applications have been filed with the City of Lakewood Community and Economic Development Department.  The following is a description of the applications and the process for review.  The applications and listed studies may be reviewed by contacting the Lead Planner assigned to the project or by visiting the online permit portal and searching for the associated application number.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The applicant is requesting Conditional Use Permit (CUP) approval to construct a 2-story duplex at 11206 Military Rd SW (APN#0219081052). The project site is a 10,454 sq ft (0.24 acre) parcel in the Residential 4 (R4) zone. The proposal includes demolishing an existing 480 sq ft house and constructing the proposed duplex along with a new detached Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) and associated site improvements. Each unit within the duplex is proposed to have 1,466 sq ft of living space, 254 sq ft attached garages, 49 sq ft covered porches and 49 sq ft covered patios. The proposed detached ADU is proposed to have 705 sq ft of living space and 179 sq ft of combined porch and covered patio space. Access to all three (3) of the dwellings is proposed via a residential driveway connecting to Military Rd SW. The applicant is proposing to retain five (5) significant trees on site as approved in Tree Removal Permit #9909 that was approved on Feb 1, 2024.

All persons may provide written comments about the proposal to the City of Lakewood Community and Economic Development Department at 6000 Main Street SW, Lakewood, WA. 98499. Please include the permit number in your comments.  Comments must be received by 5 P.M. on June 19, 2024.Any person wishing to become a party of record or desire a copy of the determination should include the request with their comments.  A party of record may appeal the project determination to the City of Lakewood Hearing Examiner by filing a complete appeal application in accordance with Lakewood Municipal Code (LMC) 1.36.

Pursuant to Lakewood Municipal Code Title 18A, Conditional Use Permits are a Type III permit which requires a public hearing before the Hearing Examiner.
