Lodging Tax Application

The city of Lakewood is soliciting project proposals that support and encourage tourism and cultural activities in Lakewood, Washington. The source of monies from which projects will be funded is the city’s share of taxes collected on overnight stays at hotels and motels within the city of Lakewood.

The application process for 2023 Lodging Tax Grant Allocations is now closed. The LTAC will make its funding recommendations and the City council will review to approve November 2022. Applications for 2024 Lodging Tax Grant Allocation will be available at the start of August 2023.

The City of Lakewood is soliciting project proposals that support and encourage tourism and cultural activities in Lakewood, WA. The source of monies from which projects will be funded is the City’s share of taxes collected on overnight stays at hotels and motels within the City of Lakewood.

Beginning August 1, 2022 the application period begins. It will close at 5 p.m. on August 22, 2022. View the 2023 Lodging Tax Grant application for 2023 grants to see eligible uses of hotel/motel lodging tax revenues and the process for proposal submission.

Grant application packets must be complete, signed, and received by the city by the due date. Applications can be emailed directly to Assistant Finance Director Dana Kapla at [email protected] or mailed to City Hall (Attention Dana Kapla), 6000 Main Street SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.  

Late or incomplete application packets will not be considered. If you wish to submit your application electronically, please email Dana Kapla of your intent and she will send confirmation receipt of your application once received.

Monday, August 1, 2022             Application period opens (application available on City’s Finance webpage)

Wednesday, August 17, 2022       Provide courtesy notification to Dana Kapla indicating your interest in applying and method of submittal. The purpose of this notification is to ensure your application is received.

Monday, August 22, 2022           Applications due no later than 5:00pm

Friday, September 9, 2022          LTAC agenda packet emailed to LTAC committee and available online

Thursday, September 22, 2022     LTAC meets to hear presentations and to make recommendations

Monday, November 14 2022       Recommendations to Lakewood City Council Study Session

Monday, November 21, 2022      Final decision on FY2023 grant award allocation adopted by Council
